Floral Chypre

You don't run into too many floral chypre scents so if you like to have an exotic and unusual kind of perfume, this is a good selection.

Chypre is the French word for cypress and it indicates a perfume family of scents derived heavily from the forest: pine, cypress, certain mosses.

This scent has also been described as a mossy wood scent. That would put it in the same tribe as Badgley-Mischka.

Agent Provocateur

This is the signature scent from a lingerie company in London of the same name. I don't know about their underwear, but this is one extremely provocative scent. It's different. The very first whiff I got of this was a bit deceptive (isn't that what spies are supposd to do?). It seemed floral. In fact, it seemed like a very nice floral. But it isn't a floral. True, it has rose, gardenia, and magnolia in there along with some very nice Egyptian jasmine. But the scent also uses saffron, Russian coriander, amber, and musk to good effect. It's unusual but not in an eccentric way. It has a pretty long scent span and it's the sort of perfume that could very easily become somebody's one-and-only.

In fact, one of my favorite perfumista buddies has this as her lifetime favorite scent. One drawback: it's very distinctive. That can be a big advantage to women skilled at fragrance, but if you wear too much, this perfume can arrive in the room before you do.

Technically, Agent Provocateur calls this scent a "floral chypre." It is not particularly a "young" or "old" scent but I think it's more fun for night than day.

Agent Provocateur

Agent Provocateur might be called the Victoria's Secret of London (despite the sexy British-sounding voices that answer the phone at Victoria's Secret and the British spellings of words like catalogue, Victoria's Secret is an American outfit). But there are some differences.

Agent Provocateur is a whole lot bolder. While VS goes for sexy, Agent Provocateur has some get-ups that could make a hooker blush.

Also like Victoria's Secret, this lingerie house offers some fragrance. Currently only two scents are in the line-up.

Other Scents by This Company
Right now, Agent Provocatuer has two fragrances on the market, this one (simply called "Parfum" on its website since it carries the same name as the company) and a new one called Maitresse. Maitresse is French for mistress.
